Abstract

The world is stunned by the impact and devastation of a health condition like SARS-CoV-2, COVID-19. Each pandemic has been catastrophic due to the implications caused in the world structure, affecting mainly the population and the sectors of productive life, leaving behind not only death but also higher rates of poverty. Undoubtedly, one of the main economic activities of Mexicans is trade, whether local or international; being aware of not being self-sufficient and commercially independent, it is that a greater number of links have been generated with what others produce and market through imports and exports. Because customs are in charge of controlling the entry and exit of merchandise from the country, this article presents a descriptive analysis presenting the data obtained, with a mixed approach, and with the purpose of analyzing how customs have operated against COVID-19, in order to identify and show, if any, the effects in terms of international trade relations that we have with other nations; first, in relation to the variability that has arisen in the entry and exit of merchandise, then, indicating which are the customs that decreased or strengthened the flow of merchandise, since to the surprise of many, there is no substantial change regarding the number of customs operations that have been carried out from Mexican customs, during the aforementioned global health contingency.
