Abstract

The introduction highlights the existence of a narrow interrelation between religion and culture, and, derived from this, between religion and economics. We could ask: Does the economy need a religious moral?

The applied methodology implies an approximation of the Christian moral identity from three different points of view: 1) An intuitive way; 2) Through a Catholic guide for investing; 3) From the perspective of the financial agents, from the brochures of the catholic mutual funds. The final purpose of this study is to verify a proposed Catholic investment approach.

Results include some items for every point of view: 1) Intuitive identity (dignity, life, freedom, love, solidarity, peace, and dialogue). 2) Mensuram Bonam (dignity; addiction and abuse patterns; global impact, sustainability, and development; and environmental protection). 3) Financial agents: a) Ave Maria Mutual Funds (abort, family and embrionic cells); b) Pablo VI Foundation (dignity of the human life, destructive behaviours, human rights, environment, health, and care of the vulnerables); c) Altum Faith Investing (dignity, family, life, and care of the Creation); d) Julius Baer Management SGIIC SA (life, dignity, peace, health, environment, and armament production). Finally, we have configured a summary table.

The discussion reveals similarities, with some exceptions, among the three dimensions of Christian moral identity. Specified differences could indicate a diverse consideration of the target audience, to which everyone is directed, and could be solved with a more appropriate expression of the concepts.
