Abstract

Introduction: Personal protective equipment according to the official Mexican standard NOM-017-STPS-2008 is the set of elements and devices that aim to protect the worker against accidents and diseases that may arise due to their work activity. Since work is a situation where the legal requirement is to wear it for at least 8 hours a day, for several days a week, the suffering inflicted by the use of work shoes can be 84% positive. The prevalence of foot pathologies is between 61-79% and contributes to a negative impact on quality of life, contributes to 3.7% of foot injuries in the general population and is 15% of reasons for consultation in primary care. In Mexico 30% of the population suffers from this pathology. Objective: Determine risk factors for developing plantar fasciitis. In addition, know the incidence of plantar fasciitis in a steel company, know types of footwear used in the company, analyze compliance with the Official Mexican STANDARD NOM-113-STPS-2009 on Safety-Personal protective equipment-Protective Footwear-Classification and know the relationship between type of work footwear and plantar fasciitis. Material and methods: A cross-sectional, observational, prospective, descriptive study will be carried out on workers in the production area of a steel company. Time to develop: January 2024 to July 2024.
