Abstract

In Cuba, the creation of Local Development Projects in communities with different Administrative Councils has been implemented for several years. This project aims to promote the activities and investments of entities, organizations, and institutions within the territories, not only from an economic and productive perspective, but also from other needs such as social development, cultural development, the environment, institutional development, research and development processes, and innovation. This study is based on a sociocultural local development project that aims to improve the quality of life of the community members of the Alex Urquiola Popular Council in the city of Holguín through participatory processes and training for artistic development, promoting popular crafts and the solidarity economy to provide new sources of employment, primarily for women and vulnerable families.
