Analysis of the municipal development of Progreso, Yucatán

Abstract

The concept of development is complex, so the analysis of its conception is interesting. Talking about development not only implies economic growth of communities and nations, it implies the improvement of certain factors that provide well-being to the population and the reduction of others that affect it. The concept of local development for its part focuses on the dynamics of communities, which can encourage development of the population. The objective of this article is to carry out an analysis of the development at the municipal level of Progreso, Yucatán throughout the years 1990 to 2020. The present work is with a quantitative approach, of a documentary type and descriptive scope. In the introduction section the conceptions of development are presented, in the methods section the procedure used in the elaboration of this work is described, in the results the most relevant information of the studied municipality is presented, while in the discussion a analysis of what the theory mentions contrasting it with the results found. It is concluded that although some indicators of municipal development in Progreso have improved over the years, work is still needed to increase access to basic, educational, health services, among others, which requires the concurrence of efforts of the three areas of government.
