The Lacanjá Chansayab Lacandon community is located in the XIII Maya region belonging to the municipality of Ocosingo, Chiapas, which is part of the Lacandon Jungle, which is located in the east-northeast region of the state of Chiapas. This municipality is characterized by its great biodiversity, and, above all, it is considered one of the strategic cities of the state of Chiapas because it establishes a connection with the Tourist Corridor: San Cristóbal-Comitán-Palenque-Ocosingo, a situation that makes it recognize this city as one of the important ones in the state for its tourist activity. This study intends to analyze the economic dimension that exists in the region and its relationship with the natural environment through the analysis of the productive activities that generate an economic income for the community and its inhabitants and the identification of the problems that prevent them from developing these activities of sustainable way and thus be able to improve the quality of life of the Lacandon inhabitants. To carry out this study it was necessary to use an ethnographic method using structured and unstructured surveys, observation guides, as well as the use of interviews with key representatives of the productive activities that exist in the community. This led us to determine the existing problems in the community under a sustainable approach based on the processes of production, consumption and commercialization of products and services of the community, processes that are decisive for local development.
