Abstract

The migration phenomenon is a threat to the construction of an equitable society, while it constitutes a topic of prioritized analysis and study by the Government and State of each country. The structure and distribution of the population in the Urbano Noris municipality, Holguín province, are very marked by the economic base and social infrastructure. This favors the establishment of functional relationships of migratory movements towards municipal and provincial capitals, mainly in search of basic services and jobs. Through the application of several scientific, theoretical and empirical methods, a study was carried out in three communities in this municipality, which made it possible to verify the existing and disproportionate relationship between gender and migration. Therefore, the main objective of this work is to propose actions to reduce rural migration, mainly of women.
