Graduates of the Degree in Accounting and their incursion into the labor market

Abstract

Higher Education represents the fundamental pillar for the development of professionals. During this tertiary training, students prepare themselves to enter the labor market, in some cases their training is integrated with professional practices, which allows them to gain experience and complement their studies from a more significant perspective, through the development of skills, finding the reason for such knowledge, mainly in a heuristic sense. The labor field of Accounting Graduates is broad; their services may be required either in public or private sector. Hence the question about the demand for this profession and the period of time that, after graduation, allows them to enter the market, having as a reference that the accrediting bodies in universities establish a period of 6 months after graduation. The objective of this work is to analyze the time and conditions in which graduates of the Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the Universidad Veracruzana, Veracruz region manage to join the labor market once they have completed their studies, contributing to the study of the practicaility of this professional training. As a result of this work, it is observed that 51% of the students were working at the time of graduation, 93% obtained a job in the first six months afterwards, a percentage that represents a favorable result for accounting professionals. The main places where their work is carried out are: companies (54%), offices (31%) and government agencies (11%).
