Abstract

The objective of this research is to propose actions to improve tourist accessibility in the hotels of Guardalavaca, from the diagnosis based on the requirements of the international standard for accessible tourism ISO 21902:2021, applying the methodology of Vega-Cisneros & Cisneros-Arias (2023). Theoretical and empirical methods such as bibliometric analysis, analysis-synthesis, as well as checklists, interviews and surveys were used. As a result, nonconformities were detected with the checklists that coincide in the three destination hotels, in the areas of universal accessibility, information and communication, accessible tourism training, built environment, accessible accommodation, food and beverage services, and leisure activities. The results show that in these hotels there is an average level of compliance with tourism accessibility requirements. Based on the diagnosis, the deficiencies that can be solved in the short term and that do not require a significant investment budget were selected, thus an action plan was drawn up, validated by expert criteria, to help improve tourist accessibility in the hotels of Guardalavaca.
