The practice of medicine is as ancient as mankind, for rather than a function of a social character without the intention of demeriting at all the service rendered by the persons dedicated to it, from its inception it has constituted a permanent necessity for obvious reasons. The content of the Hippocratic oath has often been adapted to the prevailing circumstances and ethical concepts of each society. The Hippocratic Oath has been updated by the Geneva. Declaration of 1948. There is also a version, currently widely used in medical schools in Anglo-Saxon countries, written in 1964. It is not easy to talk about responsibility in the exercise of medicine, especially the enormous evolution that science has had in the area, changes of a great depth that compel the expert today to prepare himself in the knowledge and to act with a commitment proportional to the degree of his capacity.
