Entrepreneurship education:

An exploratory study in three public institutions of higher education in Recife-PE

Abstract

The main purpose of this research was to identify entrepreneurial practices in the context of higher education, more specifically in the Business Administration course at three public universities in the city of Recife - PE, Brazil (Pernambuco School of Management Sciences/University of Pernambuco, Federal University of Pernambuco, Rural University of Pernambuco), as this is a region with great business opportunities and, as a result, the need to develop entrepreneurs. The research was qualitative in nature, with the purpose being descriptive and the means being bibliographical and documental. Data was collected by means of a literature and document review carried out virtually in the main journals related to the subject, through a convenience sample of the websites of the universities in question. The results indicate that the Public Higher Education Institutions of Recife-PE play an active role in training entrepreneurs and that these entrepreneurial influences play a key role in the academic, personal and professional development of students. However, some challenges and limitations were noted during the course of the research, but these are part of the process and require attention and commitment from the subjects in order to promote entrepreneurship at university.
