Abstract

This article contributes to the research project named "Construction of indicators to measure the status of sustainability in public spaces of cities in metropolitan areas" and proposes to analyze the importance of the humanization of public space in the globalized city, for this the concept of “walking” proposed by Careri (2002) in order to develop strategies that benefit social cohesion in the neighborhoods of the case study: Cultural colony / camellón Av. las Torres, Toluca, State of Mexico, with the purpose of rethink and design walkable spaces that not only correspond to the essential activities of human beings in their daily life, but also the optional ones that allow them to develop a social contact and therefore an interaction; the above under the status of sustainability.
