Abstract

Health care and patient specific implants have been significantly impacted by 3D printing. This revolution has particularly impacted maxillofacial surgery. This transformation has been characterized by a wide range of applications from facilitating advanced preoperative planning to improving intraoperative guidance with customized surgical guides. This technology advances has greatly reduced the uncertainties often associated with complex surgical procedures. This work presents an experience in the use of addictive manufacturing for preoperative modeling in maxillofacial surgery. The process performed and how 3D printing improves decision making in the maxillofacial surgical planning process is presented.
