Past research has revealed the influence that the actions carried out by tourists while visiting the destination have on key elements for tourism development, such as tourist expenditure or loyalty. There is a wide variety of actions that tourists can take when traveling but previous studies point to the relevance of analyzing the tourist activities carried out and the places visited during the trip. For this reason, this study analyzes the impact generated by tourist activities and visits to points of interest on tourist spending, their satisfaction with the trip made and their willingness to recommend the destination to others. The study has been applied to the case study of the island of Tenerife (Spain), as it is a consolidated tourism destination, which makes it an ideal scenario for carrying out studies related to the analysis of the impact of tourism. To carry out the study, data from the Tourist Expenditure Survey of the Canary Institute of Statistics have been used and they have been analyzed through linear regressions, using the SPSS software. The results show the importance of considering the actions carried out by tourists when traveling in order to improve the management of tourist destinations.
