Abstract

Non-tariff measures (NTMs) are trade policy instruments and mechanisms that aim to limit or prevent the introduction, extraction, and transit of goods in foreign trade operations. The main objective of this research is to identify the benefits obtained from the implementation of technical non-tariff measures in3 the export of cherry tomatoes through the use of temporary import packaging. This information can be very useful for agricultural producers inexperienced in foreign trade operations when entering international markets. The research focuses on the analysis of the benefits obtained from the implementation of technical non-tariff measures with the use of temporary import packaging in the export of cherry tomatoes to the United States of America. A mixed, exploratory, and descriptive methodology with a case study is used. This methodology helps collect the necessary information and identify findings in accordance with the research topic. The information was obtained through a survey with closed-ended questions on a Likert scale and an interview with administrative staff. The main results obtained highlight significant benefits from using appropriate packaging, improved financial returns due to reduced costs and losses, reduced packaging time, streamlining the logistics chain, which allows for better compliance with delivery times, as well as storage, handling, and stowage operations of the product, minimizing potential damage and ensuring its continued presence in the international market.
