Abstract

The experience a person acquires once he/she lives an international academic mobility can be invaluable, both personally and professionally. According to various mobility theorists, this type of program provides the participant with socio-cognitive skills, sensitivity to a more open world, and other valuable competences. In other words, programs like these promote learning that goes beyond the merely academic. Moreover, this experience not only favors the student participating in the program, but also the receiving community, resulting into an enriching multilateral exchange. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program states it offers its participants the opportunity to broaden their perspectives in terms of academic, professional, and intercultural advancement. The objective of this research is to identify some experiences and the acquired knowledge of the participants -English Teacher Assistants- of the COMEXUS Fulbright-Garcia Robles program in Mexico, August 2023-May 2024. In addition, the research recognizes the possible academic and cultural contribution to the host community in hopes of promoting the program at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico.
